WireLine and In Vitro selected for ADI Design Index 2022
The two innovative light creations from the Flos Decorative and Outdoor collections, selected by the ADI Permanent Design Observatory in the 'Design for Lighting' category and celebrated at the ADI Design Index collective exhibition in Milan and Rome, will be nominated for the next edition of the Compasso d'Oro awards.
WireLine, the essential suspension lamp designed by Formafantasma for Flos, and In Vitro, the elegant family of outdoor lamps created by Philippe Starck for Flos Outdoor, enter the prestigious ADI Design Index 2022, the annual yearbook of the best Italian design produced over the previous year, consequently earning a well-deserved nomination for the renowned ADI Compasso d'Oro award, which is given every two years.
Following on from the recent success of Belt by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, winner of a Compasso d'Oro 2022 and latest addition to the extensive list of awards received by Flos over the years, the ADI Permanent Design Observatory once again recognises Flos products at the highest level of Italian design. An excellent way to conclude a year of celebration for the brand's 60th anniversary.
WireLine and In Vitro
Design in the truest sense of the word: WireLine by Formafantasma, the result of the collaboration between Flos and designers Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin. Conceived from the idea to reduce a lamp to its essential components – the light source and the power conductor, WireLine is a long, thin body in which the power cable is used as a characteristic aesthetic feature. Flattened to look like a strap, made of rubber and hung from the ceiling, it delicately supports a sophisticated extrusion of grooved glass, which contains and diffuses the LED light source.
A sophisticated outdoor lighting collection designed by Philippe Starck, In Vitro is a series of glowing glass lanterns that seem to shine of their own accord. Each lamp is composed of an elongated aluminium casing that hides a flat, circular LED source and a watertight borosilicate glass capsule that encapsulates and diffuses the light, emanating a soft and magical glow.
